Maintenance

Semi-hydroponic plants don’t need daily care. Just simple, consistent check-ins to keep roots healthy and water balanced.

Your Weekly Checklist

1. Check Water Level

  • Look through the clear reservoir on your pot.
→ If it's low or empty → refill it to the bottom of inner pot.
→ If there's still water → leave it alone.

2. Quick Root Check (Visual)

  • Healthy roots are firm and white to tan.
  • Red flags include mushy roots, slimy roots, or a strong odor.

3. Leaf Health Scan

  • Drooping → water issue
  • Yellow leaves → nutrient imbalance or light
  • Crisp edges → salts or dry air

Periodic Maintenance (Monthly/Quarterly)

1. Flushing (Every 1-2 Months):

• Run plain water (no fertilizer) through the inner pot 2–3 times.
• This helps remove mineral and salt buildup.
• It can prevent burnt leaf tips, white crust on the PON surface, and stalled growth.

2. Pot Cleaning (As Needed):

• Use citric acid for mineral deposits — it’s the most effective.
• Vinegar or lemon juice also work, but more slowly.
• Use baking soda for stubborn buildup.
• Avoid harsh chemicals near the roots.
